Chemk’s first smelter was commissioned in 1931, located in
Chelyabinsk, about two thousand kilometers from Moscow. The plant today takes up an area of about three and a half square kilometers. Chemk is capable of producing over 120 different types of alloys and Ferro alloys. The Chelyabinsk plant operates 35 electric arc furnaces and employs over eight thousand workers.
Chromite Deposit Centrale, JSC
The central Mining facilities supporting the Chelyabinsk Factory are located 50 miles outside of
Salekhard, capital of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region. Salekhard is known for being the only city in the world that lies directly on the Arctic Circle. The estimated reserves of the Chromite Deposit Centrale mine are estimated at over 6 million tons of material, and with additional drilling, 1.5 million tons of reserves will be added in 2005, with 2 to 3 more million tons being added every following
year. The development of the deposit is carried out by JSC
Kongor-Khrome, a member of the Chemk Industrial group. Kongor-Khrome has the ability to produce more than eight hundred thousand metric tons of alloys per year and by 2007 the annual production is estimated at 1.5 million metric tons per yr.
Kuznetsk Ferroalloys, JSC
Kuznetsk Ferroalloys, located near the city of
Novokuznetsk, was built in 1942. The plant produces 450 thousand metric tons of Ferro silicon, in multiple grades, annually. The factory has 15 arc furnaces for Ferro silicon production, and employs over 3000 workers.
Anzhero Sudshensk, JSC Quartzite Deposit
Exceeding over 130 million tons, the Anzhero Sudshensk Deposit is where the raw material is mined to provide for the Kuznetsk Ferroalloys plant. JSC Quartzite Deposit, another member of the Chemk Industrial Group, mines the Ferro alloys and can produce over 1.5 million metric tons of quartzite per year for Ferro silicon production.
Vladivostok, JSC Vladprom
Two Quays were purchased in the port of Vladivostok in 2005. The purchase of this port allows for the direct access of the Pacific Ocean and gave an opportunity to greatly reduce the shipping and exporting costs to Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
